How to play Melbournedoku

A new Melbourne train grid every day. Each row and column is a clue β€” a line, a region, a station feature, or a bit of wordplay.

  • Fill each cell with a station that matches both its row clue and its column clue.
  • Each station can be used once across the grid.
  • A correct answer scores that station's rarity (0.1–100) β€” obscure stations score less.
  • A wrong guess adds an escalating penalty β€” 30, then 60, then 100 each β€” and you can try that cell again.
  • Lowest score wins. Reach 1300 and you're locked out, so guess carefully.

Tip: the obvious favourite is rarely the low-scoring pick.
